Trump's Signing Statements Now Outnumber Obama's

During his eight years in the White House, President Obama issued 37 signing statements. Collectively, these signing statements affected 114 specified provisions of law (and made eight mentions of unspecified provisions) in 37 Congressional enactments.

In under one year in office, Trump has issued seven signing statements affecting 149 specified provisions of law (and making 12 mentions of unspecified provisions) in six Congressional enactments.

On December 12, 2017, the White House released a signing statement for H.R. 2810, the "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018."

Signing Statement for H.R. 2989, the Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Commission Act

From his inauguration through August 2, 2017, Trump has issued four signing statements affecting 104 specified provisions of law and making six mentions of unspecified provisions in three Congressional enactments.




Two Signing Statements for H.R. 3364, the "Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act"

 

On August 2, 2017, Trump apparently signed two different signing statements for the same measure: H.R. 3364, the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act.
